My work explores how the mind’s eye enables us to create and realize new identities for ourselves. I find inspiration in social phenomena like cosplay, the Society for Creative Anachronism, folk tales, and mythology. I paint myself in situations and events that took place in the past as well as those which are products of my imagination, and may occur in the future.
I was born in Altadena, CA, which is located in the unincorporated foothills of Los Angeles. I received my BA in Art History from Reed College in 2011 and will pursue an MFA in Painting & Drawing at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I enjoy hiking in the mountains, music, and I like to have a good time.
