I want to help the people I encounter reclaim their bodies and, in so doing, reclaim their truth. My work and my approach to engaging people are inseparable. My work is a form of engagement. I am in constant conversation and awe with life and humans. My process for making is my process for living. I value our bodies and what is alive inside our bodies first. I had a spinal surgery when I was 12 years old that left me paralyzed from the chest down. My loss of body was the first time I learned I had a body and it contains what we call alive. So I make work with and about the body. I’m always asking what is alive? How do we live? What matters? What is love? What is pain? What happens after we die? I’m also a mom.
