Artist Statement
Second Nature:
We see it all the time: faces lit by screens and devices all around us in our daily activities. Research now estimates internet users average 2 hours and 22 minutes per day engaged in social networking and messaging platforms, significantly outweighing time spent on any other leisure activity.
What is it that is so entrancing about these platforms, and why do we allow ourselves to disconnect from the physical world in favor of these digital experiences? These are the conditions I observe, deconstruct, and interrogate.
