No confidence, no artist; no doubt, no art. This motto reflects my approach to art making, and also parallels the content of my work. Vulnerability can serve as a tool and a lens, and courage as a productive force. My work is the outcome of a dialectical opposition between the uncertainty of abstraction and solidity of figuration. It is about bodies; objectified, illegal, subversive or ideal, the body is a site of contention. We use our bodies to interact with the world, to perform our identities, but we cannot always control them and they will ultimately betray us. How we relate to the bodies of others and our own is the basic investigation behind my work.
