Ghost-Writing Photographs is a virtual workshop by Katie Giritlian about writing and storytelling. Conceived as a companion piece to the light comes in the name of the voice — the installation-opera by Corey Smith presented at SITE 280 — this workshop offers a chance to reflect and commune with some of the ghosts that haunt the gallery.

We will point our gaze toward the edges of photographs, toward the blurry boundaries of memory, and toward the ways that togetherness can shift our understandings of potential histories. At the conclusion of this workshop, we will collectively perform a short work, inspired by our own fuzzy, half-remembered photographs. Participants will walk away with material for written or performance work, as well as prompts for collective making and listening.
