Presencia Adornada is a dual exhibition by artists Isabel Padilla Bonelli and Wenslo Garcia that explores dual cultural identity, territoriality, and the evolution of symbolism within textile and architectural patterns within the Caribbean and Latin American diasporic landscape. Presented through a multidisciplinary approach incorporating textiles, printmaking, painting, and sculpture, Garcia’s and Padilla Bonelli’s work examines the material tensions between colonial modernization respectively across Texas, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. As the objects and ornamentations of these sites change, so too does the land in which its people call home.
