CALL FOR AUDIO WORKS

Artist Allison Ward is seeking sound works for her upcoming exhibition at SITE Gallery, SILENT VOICES IN SACRED SPACES. The show confronts the intersections of femininity, queerness, and subjugation within Christianity, transforming the gallery into a liminal church environment. A space that reckons with the silences embedded in Christian tradition and the voices historically excluded, altered, and suppressed by the institution.

This open call invites experimental or traditional sound compositions that resonate loosely with the themes of the exhibition. Compositions should be anywhere from 10 minutes and up to 30 minutes long. 

Selected works will be played throughout the gallery space on selected dates throughout the run of the exhibition. 

This open call is open to current SAIC students and faculty/staff ONLY.

Join us inside the SITE Galleries space, in Sharp First Floor, for a hands-on art installation workshop!

> Curatorial Workshop: Wednesday, October 21, 3:30-5:30pm | Location TBA

Join us in person for a hands-on curatorial workshop! We’ll collaborate with a previous exhibiting artist who will provide an in-depth look at the application materials they submitted for their exhibition. Together, we’ll examine and compare different components of the application, discuss what makes an application successful, and gain insight into the curatorial process from an artist’s perspective.

During the last week of our open call for proposals going live, we will host office hours everyday from 3:30-6pm. Come by the office to ask us any questions or feedback on your proposal before you submit it!

Office Hours with the SITE team are available from October 26th to October 30th from 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM in Sharp 322B.
