Exhibition Statement as Preserved in the SUGS/SITE Archives:
If one looks down from the earth, there is no virtual distance between the Louvre and the Zoo is an investigation of the cultural/natural(ized) artifact and the form of exposition. Joseph Cruz (BFA 2011) uses the myths surrounding the history and philosophy of science and pop culture to explore taxonomic rigidity and the production and reception of information. The effect of abjection points to a subjective role in creating a fantasy of objectivity in Nature.
