Exhibition Statement as Preserved in the SUGS/SITE Archives:

A collection of photographs by Sandra Arriaga. Arriaga documents her parents in their shared houshold and at their work. Blank expressions blend into one another as they go through the motions of their daily activities. Fatigue permeates and overwhlems and her photographs reveal their drive to survive, overshadowing any potential interaction within their family and surroundings. There is always a measured distance tangible, both physically and emotionally in her observations of their coexistence through the camera. A shadow following her parents around, capturing these photographs, she finds a way to surrepticiously spend time with them.
