Exhibition Statement as Preserved in the SUGS/SITE Archives:

From Freud’s Future of Illusion to science fiction such as 2001: A Space Odyssey and Mission to Mars, humankind has hypothesizes that our unique characteristics of self-awareness and consciousness are not merely flukes of evolution, but the clear result of alien intervention. Taking on this premise as truth, this exhibition features the work of Doug Jones, Adam Blumberg, Siwoon Kim, Barbara Vaught, Laura Sweeney, five new media artists who address issues of alien life and the growing sense of alienation we feel in this technologically expanding world.
