Exhibition Statement as Preserved in the SUGS/SITE Archives:
Lifanova’s work sets up access points to explore themes of power, freedom, captivity, determinism, dissolution, systems, and the play within. Combining the practices of installation and choreographed performance, Anatomy is Destiny presents life-sized chess pieces and three live matches as a way to investigate the relations between present and past, subject and object.
