Exhibition Statement as Preserved in the SUGS/SITE Archives:

Engaging with questions of time, history, vision, identity, and the body, Sophie Kahn (MFA 2013) combines digital cutting edge processes within an archival and historiographic tradition. The resulting sculptures, 3D printed busts fabricated from imperfect data, recall monuments that depict the artist as both an innovator and archaeologist. Using museum-style modes of framing, Artifact excavates the still image of the portrait through post-photographic means.
