Invoking a controlled sublime, Yon Sun Jung creates frightening yet beautiful landscapes of natural phenomena in artificial ways – a tornado in a glass of water for example. In Ideal Nature, a three-channel video installation, the artist exerts viewing authority over the audience, but allows for a safe space in which to experience nature’s power.
