In Last Summer Last four young women artists seek to capture the essence of a summer fling by freezing – at least photographically – their last summer.

Collectively responding to the idea of the last summer – its fleeting nature is similar to the photographic medium itself – the artists capture the essence of this personally and creatively pivotal moment through the self-portrait.
Cooper explores issues of failure and trust in a video of herself attempting – for the first time – to ride a bicycle; Mamou recreates horror film stills to evoke a one-sided relationship, Rasmussen captures the thrill of breaking into pools at night, and Schneider uses the setting of the beach to stage a narrative of desire and unrequited love.
