Exhibition Statement as Preserved in the SUGS/SITE Archives:
Loosen Knots is an exhibition about memory and how the recollection of our pasts impact the expectations of our future. The fantasy of a “safe” land or space perpetuate our visions of and hope for the future. A group of student artists have come together to explore this idea of an ephemeral space through a series of painting, sculpture, installation and photography. The artworks seek to control the unpredictable by focusing on the potential for that invulnerable future. Loosen Knots creates an alternate reality of the better future we had hoped for.
