Exhibition Statement as Preserved in the SUGS/SITE Archives:

Inspired by the artist’s frustration with the unpredictability of the harsh Chicago weather, Yaloopop’s multi-channel video Mountain For Your Mind invites viewers to delight in the touristic sensory experience of an invented landscape. Complete with “rock” cushions for a viewing station, the artist’s installation transforms the gallery into a gateway for experiencing the fantastical geographical solution to Chicago’s notoriously flat terrain. The installation serves as an emotional pacifier for the stresses of the urban landscape, positioning a new relationship between us and out environment through imagination and intuition, reactivating our instinct for daydreaming.
