Exhibition Statement as Preserved in the SUGS/SITE Archives:
Have you ever looked at a piece of art and felt the whole universe melt away? Your heart starts racing. Your palms get sweaty. You stare into a painterly abyss and then suddenly everything just clicks, you have an Artcrush. This show is about that feeling. Students around SAIC can anonymously confess their art-work-crushes they experience in classes, critiques and, beyond. We SITE Directors will do everything in our power to track down said art pieces and feature them in this exhibition of multi-media student art (along with the love note of course).

Exhibition Material
Regardless of where you were when you saw your first ArtCrush, whether it be in class, a critique, the hallway or beyond – crushes are a wonderful feeling and they stick with you. All of the works in this show were anonymously nominated, along with a love note about why they sparked a crush on the viewer. Out of the 80+ submissions received by the SITE team from across campus, the directors have put together this exhibition, ArtCrush, based off the love notes attached to the artworks and the crushes they inspired. We hope you enjoy the show, and maybe even leave with a crush of your own.
SITE’s Instagram posted a series of honorable mentions, featuring works from artists considered for the show but not actually accepted.
