Exhibition Statement as Preserved in the SUGS/SITE Archives:
The Permanence of Loss transforms SITE Sharp into a space to discuss death. Ben Harle (MFA Ceramics, 2018) presents a new collection of ceramic memorials and videos, intended to advance the capacity for the gallery to foster personal contemplation. Cultural practices and methodologies surrounding burial, cremation, and other ways we are remembered may differ from person to person, but philosophical connections made by openly discussing our own beliefs can help form new perspective. The Permanence of Loss presents these relationships in a constructive, positive manner.
