Exhibition Statement as Preserved in the SUGS/SITE Archives:
THIS WAS THE KIND OF PRESENTATION OF ALL THE MATERIAL is an exhibition in performance composed of objects, a lecture, and a play by Benjamin Chaffee (MFA 2011). Throughout the course of the exhibition, Chaffee will present a series of threetalks: one by himself about position, one by Brian Wallace (MA 2010) about ecology and collaboration, and one by REH Gordon (MA 2011) about the work of Maurice Merleau-Ponty. Chaffee will also present two performances of a play also entitled THIS WAS THE KIND OF PRESENTATION OF ALL THE MATERIAL. Chaffee’s work questions questioning, position-taking, form, and methodology while asking questions, taking positions, presenting objects, and assuming methods.
