Exhibition Statement as Preserved in the SUGS/SITE Archives:

Six second-year graduate students from the printmaking department exhibit their freshest creations, ranging from mixed-media installation to assemblage sculpture. “Webster’s first definition of print is ‘a mark made by pressure’ … Whether the pressure comes literally from an etching press or a rubber stamp, or figuratively from the looming presence of the art world wich awaits us outside the academy, our art — our mark — is made under pressure.” Artists Lisa Hecht, Alysia Rani Kaplan, Jennifer Ramsey, Jennifer Schmidt, Susannah Kite Strang, and Hye-Jin Yoo, show you, with their range of contemporary media and diverse aesthetic — that it doesn’t have to be lithography or etching to be made “under pressure.”
