Proceeds from Bank of America Auction Benefit Incoming Students

November 11, 2014

Bank of America donated more than $1.2 million to SAIC to establish need-based scholarships for Chicago’s high school graduates to pursue higher education at SAIC. The donation was generated by an art auction of works from the company’s own collection, held in the SAIC Ballroom, and proceeds from a separate Sotheby’s auction. The live auction featured work by 10 renowned artists, eight of whom are SAIC alumni: Ed Paschke (BFA 1961, MFA 1970, HON 1990), Ray Yoshida (BFA 1953—also a longtime SAIC professor), Joan Mitchell (BFA 1947, MFA 1950, HON 1988), Miyoko Ito, Richard Estes (SAIC 1952–56), Claes Oldenburg, Donald Sultan (MFA 1975), and Thomas Hart Benton (SAIC 1907–09), as well as works by Roy Lichtenstein and Jacob Lawrence.
