Analog Studio

  • Location: MacLean, Rm 416
  • Access: Available to students enrolled in specific Sound classes  
  • Training Materials: online Studio Guide 
  • Description: The Analog Studio is a professional recording facility outfitted with a variety of vintage and contemporary analog equipment. Notable items are the forty-year-old Emu analog synthesizer, vintage Mood Vocoder, and other rare and esoteric equipment.

Digital Studio

  • Location: MacLean, Rm 417
  • Access: Available to students enrolled in specific Sound classes 
  • Training Materials: online Studio Guide 
  • Description: The Digital studio is a professional facility with a focus on recording digitally. It is connected to Whisper Room, allowing recording between both rooms. 
  • Comments: Must reserve and check out keycard from Media Center

Grad Studios

  • Location: MacLean, Rms 108, 109, 110, and 121
  • Access: Available to students enrolled in specific Sound classes  
  • Training Materials: NA
  • Description: Facilities strictly for use by Sound department graduate students.
  • Comments: Must reserve and check out keycard from Media Center

Intro Studio

  • Location: MacLean, Rm 420
  • Access: Available to students enrolled in specific Sound classes
  • Training Materials: online Studio guide 
  • Description: This studio is primarily for students enrolled in Introduction to Sound classes and features an eclectic collection of equipment including reel-to-reel tape recorders, analog synthesizers, and vintage audio processors.
  • Comments: Must reserve and check out keycard from Media Center

Multi-Channel Studio

  • Location: MacLean, Rm 522
  • Access: Available to students enrolled in specific Sound classes 
  • Training Materials: NA 
  • Description: MC522 is a multipurpose facility that serves both as classroom, lecture space, and also houses a six-channel speaker array for multi-channel sound work.

Piano Studio

  • Location: MacLean, Rm 121
  • Access: Available to students enrolled in specific Sound classes
  • Training Materials: NA
  • Description: Room 121 houses the department’s Yamaha Disklavier digitally controlled acoustic piano.

Workshop Studio

  • Location: MacLean, Rm 521
  • Access: Available to students enrolled in specific Sound classes
  • Training Materials: NA
  • Description: Work space for electronics and light fabrication
  • Comments: The Workshop has open hours M-Th 4:15pm – 7:15pm
