Misa Yo

Exhibition Statement as Preserved in the INCUBATOR Archives:

In Choreographed, Misa Yo accentuates the different processes involved in creating. From every fingerprint to each coil of clay, the process of making can be seen or touched in every piece. Through these acts, Yo acts as a choreographer, visualizing how the material and the artist work together to create artwork. Furthermore, the relationship of movement between the material and the artist’s gesture is closely intertwined with the audience experience. The artmaking process and the viewer’s experience have always been choreographed. Yo believes in the beauty of this fact, calling upon audiences to build their own choreographic experience around the artwork, and in doing so, creating unqiue memories with the pieces that complete the art as a whole.
